Three reasons why the iTunes updrage process is an awful user experience

  1. It requires a system restart.

    iTunes requires a restart
Really? I have to stop what I’m doing for iTunes? Adobe-esque.

  2. It makes me create a new Quick Launch icon.

    iTunes update forgets quick launch
This is incredibly dumb software, in the About Face sense of the word.

  3. It clutters my desktop without asking.

iTunes update creates new shortcut on desktop
Is this 1999? Are we still putting shit on users’ desktops without asking?

    All points in agreement.

Maybe Apple is doing this to encourage people to get a Mac? If so, they need to make a pop-up after the updates are done: “We wouldn’t have added icons to your desktop and taskbar if you had a Mac, but restarts are still needed, sooooooo, there’s that”
